Abstract
A review of general surgical work undertaken at a large bush hospital in Africa revealed a high proportion (16-19%) of reconstructive/plastic cases. The reasons for this are discussed, together with the feasibility of current reconstructive techniques in such a situation in the developing world. The implications for future surgical planning and the training of surgeons for developing countries are discussed.Mesh:
