W P Reed, K A Newman, J H Tenney.

Abstract

A method for removing Hickman catheters is described herein. This technique permits removal of the inner catheter tip without contaminating it on the open colonized portion of the subcutaneous exit site. Added advantages are patient comfort and lower risk of catheter breakage.
