Advances in the treatment of bronchial asthma.

S L Spector.

Abstract

Asthma is defined as a syndrome of variable and reversible airway obstruction. The successful treatment of the acute attack of asthma depends on prompt and appropriate intervention, while the aim of management following the acute attack should be that of optimal control of chronic symptoms and avoidance of recurrent attacks. A better recognition of triggers and improved medical management prompt optimism regarding the treatment of this potentially reversible process.
