Abstract
It is important to have an understanding of pulmonary edema because of the frequency of its occurrence in companion animals, the deleterious cardiopulmonary responses to edema, its relation to an underlying primary disease, and the potential for successful treatment. The article begins with a brief description of normal pulmonary fluid physiology and pathophysiology and includes discussions of the etiologies and mechanisms of edema formation, the physiologic abnormalities that occur in response to pulmonary edema, and the diagnosis and therapy of pulmonary edema.Entities:
