Abstract
In two cases postpartum hemorrhage resulted from placental implantation in the noncontractile cervical segment of the uterus. The hemorrhage was controlled successfully by inflating a large Foley catheter balloon with 60 ml of saline inside the cervical canal. The tamponade was the only therapy necessary. In some cases this technique may be useful in slowing the bleeding while stabilizing the patient and preparing for definitive treatment.Entities:
