Abstract
Co-trimazine, a new preparation of sulphadiazine and trimethoprim, was compared with nitrofurantoin in a double-blind trial on patients with acute urinary tract infections. Co-trimazine had a bacteriological cure rate of 95% as compared to 88% for nitrofurantoin. There were no statistically significant differences in laboratory findings or in clinical side-effects between the two laboratory findings or in clinical side-effects between the two preparations. It was concluded that co-trimazine might constitute a valuable addition amongst drugs suitable for treatment of acute urinary tract infections.Entities:
