Abstract
The history of techniques for the replacement of lost skin is reviewed, including the current research in the use of synthetic dermal substitutes, skin allografts and immunosuppression, and tissue-cultured epithelial autografts. Developments in each of these three areas are encouraging steps toward the development of a skin substitute that would be immediately available for coverage of even massive areas of skin loss.Entities:
