Abstract
Lung cancer mortality rates are higher in Shanghai than all other large cities in China, with rates for females among the highest in the world. In this paper, we describe a case-control study now under way in Shanghai to evaluate reasons for this pattern, reviewing what is known about the risk factors under study.
