A new surgical approach in the treatment of depressed lateral condylar fractures of the tibia.

H R Gossling, C A Peterson.

Abstract

Surgical repair of 18 fractures of the laterotibial condyle was performed by a surgical technique combining features of several standard procedures. Complete lateral exposure of the tibial articular surface is obtained through resection of its fibular head. Anatomical reduction is obtained under direct vision. The lateral meniscus is usually preserved and bony reduction is maintained by cancellous and cortical bone graft reinforced with internal fixation.
