Thumb reconstruction using second-toe transfer.

Although toe transfer is a relatively new operation, its early results have been highly satisfactory. This article presents the author's experience from 1977 to 1983 with a total of 45 thumb reconstructions using the second toe. All but three of these patients have resumed employment.
