Chronic illness and its impact on academic achievement.

A Bloch.

Abstract

With chronic illness in children becoming increasingly evident, there is a need to tease out primary from secondary effects of the illness on scholastic achievement. Early multidisciplinary diagnosis of chronic illness is critical and requires a community setting with careful long-term individual follow-up and research. This will enable pediatricians and school doctors to be more helpful to the education authorities.
