Sarcoid granuloma simulating amelanotic melanoma of the iris.

S B Cohen, G A Peyman.

Abstract

A 24-year-old black man had a unilateral vascular iris tumor associated with iridocyclitis. Clinically, the iris lesion appeared similar to an amelanotic melanoma. A systemic workup, including an angiotensin-converting enzyme determination, suggested a diagnosis of sarcoidosis. A conjunctival biopsy confirmed that diagnosis.
