Abstract
Malacoplakia is a form of chronic granulomatous inflammation that rarely involves the female genital tract. We report a case of malacoplakia of the ovary that developed in a 50-year-old white woman with a long history of von Recklinghausen's disease and diverticulitis. In the current case, malacoplakia presented as a tumorlike lesion in the left adnexal area. It appeared grossly to invade, through direct extension, surrounding soft tissues and loops of the small and large bowels. This case simulated a malignant ovarian tumor, and presented a significant diagnostic challenge clinically and pathologically.Entities:
