Management of antidepressant-induced side effects: a practical guide for the clinician.

M H Pollack, J F Rosenbaum.

Abstract

The treatment of antidepressant-induced side effects is an important area of clinical concern. Attention to the untoward consequences of pharmacotherapy improves patient compliance and allows the physician to treat patients with the appropriate medication at an efficacious dosage. Based upon review of the literature and clinical experience, a general guide is offered to help the clinician determine treatment strategies that may be effective in dealing with some of the more commonly encountered side effects of the heterocyclic antidepressants and monoamine oxidase inhibitors.
