Geographic distributions of karyotypes and morphotypes within the greater galagines.

J Masters.

Abstract

Evidence from previous studies indicating both a morphotypic and a karyotypic discontinuity within the greater galagines is summarized, and additional information is presented. This includes both a multivariate analysis of skull characters, and a karyological investigation of wild-caught animals from the southern African subregion. Geographic distributions of the morphotypes and karyotypes are compared. A distinct group of slightly larger G. garnettii animals requires investigation with regard to specific affinities.
