Abstract
At relatively low perfusion rates, anoxic regions may occur in tissue even though oxygen remains in the blood as it leaves the capillary at the venous end. In this paper a mathematical theory of facilitated diffusion is developed and used to determine the extent to which myoglobin increases the removal of oxygen from blood and aids in the reduction or elimination of regions of anoxia.Entities:
