Health and social status in patients with hip fractures and controls.

O Johnell, I Sernbo.

Abstract

Six hundred and nine patients with hip fractures in Malmö, Sweden, were compared with a sex- and age-matched control group (609). The comparison showed that patients with hip fractures were more often institutionalized, had more home aid, walking aids, poorer eyesight and were slender. Furthermore, the hip-fracture group more often showed signs of changes in mental status and concomitant illnesses.
