Ciliated metaplasia in the gastric mucosa. II. In a European patient with gastric carcinoma.

C A Rubio, A Serck-Hanssen.

Abstract

The first European case of ciliated cells in the gastric mucosa is presented. Cilia were found on some of the cells of cystically dilated glands. The possibility that cilia represent adaptative metaplasia aimed at expelling the retained mucus within the cysts is discussed.
