The neodymium-yttrium aluminum garnet (Nd:YAG) laser in urology.

A C von Eschenbach.

Abstract

As an exciting and powerful new modality, the Nd:YAG laser already has an established place in the urologic armamentarium. Its uses are limited and its advantages over conventional therapy yet to be convincingly established in some areas of application, but the laser spans open and endoscopic applications and is revolutionizing the craft of surgery. Urology is at the forefront of this pioneering effort.
