String test for diagnosing giardiasis.

J E Jones.

Abstract

The "string test" permits definitive diagnosis of giardiasis in the physician's office. If giardiasis is present, microscopic examination of the sample of duodenal fluid obtained on the string will reveal Giardia lamblia in the trophozoite stage. Use of this simple test may eliminate some of the difficulties in diagnosing giardiasis.
