[Penetrating carotid artery laceration--case report].

G E Wozasek, K D Moser, R Bauer.

Abstract

Immediate repair of carotid artery lacerations are imperative not only to prevent exsanguination but also for restoration of impaired cerebral blood flow. The preoperative neurological situation is responsible for the expected cerebral damage. We are reporting the case of a five year old boy, who survived without cerebral damage despite deep preoperative unconsciousness.
