Plasmid profiles of clinical isolates of Campylobacter with no or weak catalase activity.

A J Lastovica, R E Ambrosio.

Abstract

Over a 26-month period 24 strains of Campylobacter with no or weak catalase activity were isolated from patients with gastro-enteritis or septicaemia at Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital, Cape Town. Analysis has shown that 7 of the 24 isolates contained plasmids, and that 5 of them carried a common plasmid of 3.4 X 10(6) daltons.
