Abstract
We have reported a case of colitis cystica profunda, an uncommon, benign disease of the colon presumably due to chronic inflammation, characterized by submucosal mucus-filled cysts. It may be premalignant, having been associated with ulcerative colitis and rectal adenocarcinoma. Diagnosis requires a high degree of suspicion and adequate biopsies, and treatment is by simple excision.Entities:
