The operative treatment of humeral shaft fractures.

Although conservative treatment is still the treatment of choice in simple humeral shaft fractures, there are some distinct indications for operative stabilisation, namely association with other injuries or conditions aggravating the traumatic impact of the in itself banal fracture. These indications are discussed and our 41 operatively treated humeral shaft fractures are reviewed.
