Depression in a geriatric patient: alleviation by insertion of a pacemaker.

M P Rampertaap.

Abstract

A geriatric patient had a number of depressive episodes over a 2 1/2-year period, each requiring hospital admission; no episode completely responded to antidepressant therapy. On his last admission an elective organic work-up revealed a sick sinus syndrome, for which he subsequently received a pacemaker, alleviating all of his symptoms.
