Sternocleidomastoid myoplasty for the repair of chronic cervical esophageal fistulae.

J S Rubin.

Abstract

A sternocleidomastoid muscle flap has been utilized in the repair of chronic cervical esophageal fistulae in two patients. A two layer closure is effected by mobilizing the anterior fascia off of the muscle and thus allowing for a belt and suspenders closure. Technical details are included as well as two case reports.
