Abstract
This paper reviews the management and clinical course of patients after rescue from near drowning. Those with adequate ventilation on arrival at hospital had an excellent prognosis. The prognosis of those patients with inadequate ventilation, or who have suffered cardiac arrest, depends on rapid assessment and the institution of vigorous resuscitative measures. The medical management of all types of patients is reviewed in detail, the results tabulated and complications discussed.Entities:
