Orbicularis muscle mobilization in eyelid reconstruction.

M T Doxanas.

Abstract

Mobilization of the orbicularis oculi muscle into recipient skin-graft beds was performed in seven patients. Following tumor resection, five eyelids were reconstructed using the Hughes procedure. Two eyelids had orbicularis muscle mobilization in preparation for the recipient graft site for correction of cicatricial ectropion following trauma. All skin grafts were viable and eyelid motility was enhanced. No complications were encountered.
