Abstract
Major changes have occurred in the delivery of perinatal care during the last two decades. Documentation of perinatal regionalization statistics at Women and Infants Hospital of Rhode Island in Providence support the increasing proportion of low birth weight infants in the region being born at the tertiary care center, the decreasing number of neonatal transports in concert with an increasing number of maternal transports, and the increasing proportion of neonatal transports with birth weights greater than or equal to 2500 gm. Patterns of modern perinatal care are materially changing the delivery of health care at tertiary care facilities.Entities:
