Abstract
Using the Fourier transform on a peristimulus time histogram (PSTH) to calculate spectral components of a spike train can yield erroneous spectral amplitudes. This happens because the PSTH is a function defined at discrete points in a way that conflicts with the sampling theorem.Mesh:
