Abstract
The therapist in biofeedback training plays the role of a teacher or coach. This role, derived from learning theory and practiced in the classroom and playing field, imposes special constraints upon the psychotherapeutic situation. The therapist must be capable of physiological manipulation in self before attempting to teach this skill to another. The issue of transfer of training and maintenance of therapeutic gain are also discussed.Mesh:
