Abstract
Following Mustard's popularization of the intraatrial baffle procedure for transposition of the great arteries, debate has persisted regarding the ideal materials to use. Reports of xenograft (i.e., bovine pericardium) as a suitable prosthetic material made it an appealing choice. We report our recent experience with 2 patients in whom bovine pericardium was used for atrial augmentation, with subsequent pulmonary venous obstruction. For this reason, we have abandoned this material as an acceptable prosthetic in the Mustard procedure.Entities:
