Testicular survival after neonatal torsion.

E Arnbjörnsson.

Abstract

Ten newborn patients with an extravaginal testicular torsion are presented. All were operated on with an emergency orchiopexy. At follow-up, two to 15 years after the operation, no significant difference was noted in the volumes of the operated and the contralateral testis in eight of the ten patients. The results show the importance of an emergency orchiopexy in order to ensure testicular survival after neonatal torsion.
