Abstract
Swimming-induced pulmonary edema (SIPE) is a rare form of non-cardiogenic pulmonary edema occurring in swimmers. It is important to consider the diagnosis of SIPE and differentiate it from aspiration pneumonitis in patients presenting with respiratory distress after swimming. We report a case of military recruit who developed SIPE. This is the first reported case of SIPE from India. Owing to the paucity of reported cases, the treatment of this entity in the literature is anecdotal, and we present successful management of SIPE with non-invasive ventilation and diuretics. A review of literature is made to understand the diagnosis, pathophysiology, and management of SIPE.Entities:
