Abstract
Objectives: Type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) and obesity are an independent risk factor for cardiovascular diseases, so early prediction of LV dysfunction carries better prognosis. So our aim was to assess the subclinical LV dysfunction in type 2 diabetic obese and non-obese patients using two-dimensional speckle tracking echocardiography (2DSTE). Materials andEntities:

Figure 1LA volume in 2 and 4 chamber views: LA volume index: (41.60 ml/m2). LA = Left atrial
Figure 2EF Simpson's Method: EF (61%), LVESV: (35ml) and LVEDV: (89 ml). EF = Ejection fraction, LVEDV = Left ventricular diastolic volume, LVESV = Left ventricular systolic volume
Figure 3Pulsed wave Doppler on mitral valve: Peak early mitral inflow velocity (e): (52 cm/s), peak late mitral inflow velocity: (55 cm/s), E/A ratio:(0.95), deceleration time (274 ms) and average E/E′(6.57)
Figure 4(Rt. Panel) TDI on septal mitral annulus: septal E× (6.7 cm/s) and (Lt. Panel) TDI on lateral mitral annulus: lateral E′(9.1 cm/s)
Figure 5LV strain by speckle tracking in 3 chamber view anterior septum peak longitudinal strain (basal [−15%], mid [−18%] and apical [−24%]), inferolateral wall peak longitudinal strain (basal [−16%], mid [−18%] and apical [−23%]). (i) Average peak longitudinal strain of anterior septum: (−19%). (ii) Average peak longitudinal strain of inferolateral wall: (−19%). LV = Left ventricle
