Talo-calcaneal coalition treated with resection.

L G Danielsson.

Abstract

Three cases of symptomatic talocalcaneal coalition (medial or posterior) have been treated successfully with resection of the connecting bar and fat interposition without fusion. At follow-up (ranging from 1 1/2 to 14 years), the patients had no pain, good function, good range of joint motion, and no regeneration of the bar. Computed tomography scanning was the method of choice for roentgenological diagnosis of talocalcaneal coalition.
