Abstract
INTRODUCTION: In geriatric patients, hypotension is often reported after general anesthesia induction using propofol. Remimazolam is a novel short-acting sedative. However, the incidence of hypotension after general anesthesia induction using remimazolam in geriatric patients remains unclear. This study aims to compare the incidence of hypotension associated with remimazolam and propofol in patients aged ≥80 years.Entities:

*Timepoint 1: one day before surgery, Timepoint 2: after obtaining informed consent and till entering the operating room, Timepoint 3: in the operating room before anesthesia induction, Timepoint 4: from trial drug administration to loss of consciousness, Timepoint 5: from loss of consciousness to intubation, Timepoint 6: till 3 minutes after intubation, Timepoint 7: the day after the surgery. Medicines include antihypertensives, sleep inducing drugs, antipsychotics, and central nervous system agents without antidepressants.
