Abstract
Intra-articular viscoelastic supplements are commonly administered by musculoskeletal radiologists for the treatment of symptomatic osteoarthritis (OA). This article provides an overview of the putative mechanism of action of the agents, a brief review of the evidence base underlying the practice, a commentary on some of the major society guidelines regarding the treatment, and a description of the adverse events that are associated with intra-articular hyaluronic acid administration.Entities:
