Abstract

A new genus of streblid bat fly with a postgenal ctenidium is erected and two new species from Brazil are described. We tested the phylogenetic position of the new genus using morphological data, through a cladistic analysis comparing it with eight genera of Trichobiinae and four of Streblinae. Our results showed the new genus is a sister group of Streblinae. A key to genera of Streblidae with genal ctenidium and species of the new genus is provided.
