Abstract
Background: Migraine without aura (MWoA) is a nervous system disease, which is closely related to autonomic nerves dysfunction. As a popular non-pharmacological alternative treatment for preventing migraine, it remains unclear whether the acupuncture can prevent MWoA. Thus, this trial aims to evaluate the preventive effect and safety of the acupuncture method of stimulating acupoints that regulate autonomic nerves in MWoA patients.Entities:

Locations of Acupuncture Acupoints
| Acupoints | Location |
|---|---|
| Tianrong (SI 17) | In the lateral aspect of the neck and in the depression on the anteriorborder of m. sternocledomastoidcus and posterior to the angle of mandible. |
| Fengchi (GB 20) | Below the occipital bone, parallel to Fengfu (GV 16) and in the depression between the upper portion of m. sternocleidomastoideus and m. trapezius or at the midpoint between Yifeng (TE 17) and Fengfu (GV 16) or at the upper part of the trapezius on both sides with the thumb and index finger parallel to the external occipital protuberance. |
| Neiguan (PC 6) | When the palm is turned up, the acupoint is located 2 cun above the transverse crease of the wrist, between the tendons of m. palmaris longus and m. flexor radialis. |
