Analyzed by one-way ANOVA.
Analyzed by Pearson chi-square or Fisher exact test.
ASA, American Society of Anesthesiologists; BMI, body mass index; n, number of patients; y, years.
Figure 1Study Group Profiles of Pain Intensity Based on the Visual Analog Scale (VAS) after Total Knee Arthroplasty.
The FSNB patients experienced significantly improved short-term pain relief for 4 hours postoperatively. Both FSNB and LIA patients experienced significantly reduced pain intensity on days 2 and 3 postoperatively.
* P<0.05.
Figure 2Study Group Profiles of Postoperative Muscle Recovery after Total Knee Arthroplasty.
Pain was measured on a scale of 0–5.
* Significantly poorer muscle recovery profile (P<0.001).
Selected Reports on Pain Control Efficiency after Knee Prosthetic Replacement by Local Infiltration Analgesia (LIA) versus Peripheral Nerve Block of the Femoral and/or Sciatic Nerves (FSNB).
