Abstract
In areas where tuberculosis is endemic other causes of respiratory infection are often overlooked. A pulmonary infiltrate associated with skin lesions without a microbiological diagnosis of tuberculosis should arouse suspicion of a fungal infection. This was demonstrated in a patient in whom Blastomyces dermatitidis, a rare pathogen in southern Africa, was isolated.Entities:
