Dear ISA Members,The Indian Journal of Anaesthesia (IJA) has taken great strides in the recent past. This has been possible with excellent innovative initiatives under dynamic national and regional leadership. The zonal supplemental issues of IJA have and will continue to add yet another dimension to this continuing progress. It is indeed a great pleasure, privilege, and honour for me to write this message as the Editor-in-Chief of the first East Northeast supplement.Heraclitus of Ephesus summed up life in the phrase “Panta Rhei” - “The Only Constant in Life Is Change”. This philosophy has been alluded to in previous editorials of IJA as well.[12] Change is essential to evolution and progress. It safeguards against stagnation and dogmatism. Change however needs to find the correct path and direction. The zonal supplements of the IJA is a shift from the past. Changing to be better. The ‘new’ supplements will provide newer and greater opportunities for clinicians and academicians to become published and documented researchers. It will also provide the fillip to develop new teams. New teams of reviewers and editors to enhance their understanding of the process and scope of publication. It will always be an endeavour to strive to be better. I will remain forever indebted to the National Secretary of the Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists (ISA), Dr Naveen Malhotra and Dr Manoj Kumar for bestowing this responsibility upon me. A huge thank you also to the many friends and colleagues who have agreed to be a part of this journey. The biggest thank you of all is for Dr. Sukhminder Jit Singh Bajwa. If I do manage to produce anything, it will only be due to the wholehearted support that he has provided thus far and promised for the future.I hope we will contribute effectively in creating and being a part of history and later bask in its success.Long live ISA. Long live IJA.Dr. Saikat Sengupta, Sr Consultant Anaesthesiology, Apollo Multispeciality Hospitals, Kolkata. 58 Canal Circular Road. Kolkata 700054. West Bengal. India.
