Bifid median nerve with a double compartment within the transverse carpal canal.

P C Amadio.

Abstract

A case is reported in which the radial half of a bifid median nerve passed through a separate compartment within the transverse carpal canal. During its passage within this compartment this portion of the nerve gave off sensory and motor branches to the thumb. The two branches of the median nerve subsequently rejoined distal to the transverse carpal ligament.
