Hemangiopericytoma of the prostate.

A case of hemangiopericytoma of the prostate is described. The patient presented with a 5-year history of episodic hematuria and lower urinary tract obstruction. A transurethral resection of the prostate showed a highly cellular mesenchymal tumor exhibiting features of a hemangiopericytoma. He died of concomitant disseminated carcinoma of the lung. An autopsy showed a large prostatic hemangiopericytoma with bladder wall invasion. This case appears to be the fifth reported case of hemangiopericytoma of the prostate.
