Fig 2Anticoagulation (AC) with low-molecular-weight heparin (LMWH) is associated with significantly higher cumulative survival compared with unfractionated heparin (UFH)-based AC, regardless of the AC level, prophylactic or therapeutic. There was no difference in cumulative survival when comparing prophylactic UFH to therapeutic UFH. Similarly, there was no difference in cumulative survival when comparing prophylactic LMWH to therapeutic LMWH.
