Unicompartmental knee arthroplasty following patellectomy.

L Marmor.

Abstract

Patients with total knee arthroplasty following patellectomy have been reported to experience pain and instability. The results of ten patients with 11 knee arthroplasties using the Marmor knee were excellent in seven patients and good in three with an average follow-up period of nine years. It is extremely important to preserve the cruciate ligaments or to use a total knee prosthesis that has inherent anteroposterior stability.
