Used 2017 Youth Risk Behavior Survey data and 11 states that included the food security question. Eleven states included are as follows: Delaware, Hawaii, Idaho, North Carolina, North Dakota, Nebraska, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Utah, and Virginia.
Food insecure includes responses of always, most of the time, sometimes to the question “During the past 30 days, how often did you go hungry because there was not enough food in your home?”
P‐values summarize results from the Rao‐Scott chi‐square test comparing food insecurity status groups.
Sample n is unweighted; Percentage is weighted.
All Hispanic students are included in the Hispanic category. All other races are non‐Hispanic.
Indicates statistical significance of p<0.05 from Rao‐Scott chi‐square test.
