As I reflect on 2021, I want to thank our international community for your tremendous support in achieving our mission as the “go-to” clinical and scientific resource in cardio-oncology. Each of our 5 issues published in 2021 conveyed actionable knowledge to advance the cardiovascular care of our patients with cancer and cancer survivors. Excellent, rigorous, and impactful science was promulgated in our tireless efforts to educate and engage the global community. We continue to see important growth. In 2021, there were more than 457,000 views and downloads. Our top 10 manuscripts in 2021 collectively achieved nearly 80,000 views and downloads, as shown in the treemap in Figure 1 (interactive version: https://www.jacc.org/special-collection/most-read/cardio-oncology/2021). In this Figure, the size of each box correlates with the number of downloads. These original research papers, state-of-the-art reviews, primers, and research letters span a broad and diverse array of topics: the epidemiologic intersection of cardiovascular risk factors and cancer, radiation therapy,2, 3, 4, 5 immune therapy, venous thromboembolism, and imaging, biomarkers, and mechanisms related to anthracycline cardiotoxicity.8, 9, 10

Top 10 Downloaded Articles From JACC: CardioOncology, 2021 I also want to use this Editor's page to highlight the JACC: CardioOncology Young Author Awards. The JACC: CardioOncology Young Author Awards recognize 2 outstanding papers published in the journal in 2021 whose primary authors are young investigators. These awards recognize not only the young investigators but also their mentors and the programs in which they work. Dr Connor O’Brien (University of California, San Francisco) is the recipient of one of this year’s Young Author Awards for the paper “Mitochondria-Rich Extracellular Vesicles Rescue Patient-Specific Cardiomyocytes From Doxorubicin Injury: Insights Into the SENECA Trial.” Mentored by Dr Philip Yang of Stanford University, Dr O’Brien is noted to have a “creative spirit and intellectual curiosity” and to be a “dedicated team player, a leader with genuine commitment, stellar and superb.” Dr Javier Valero Elizondo of Houston Methodist DeBakey Heart and Vascular Center (mentored by Dr Khurram Nasir, also of Houston Methodist), also received the Young Author Award for the paper “Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease, Cancer, and Financial Toxicity Among Adults in the United States.” Dr Valero Elizondo is noted for his “generosity, his role as a rising mentor, and his brilliance.” I would encourage all to read these significant and innovative original research papers from these highly promising physician scientists. I also commend the mentors for their commitment, advocacy, and support in training the next generation of leaders in cardio-oncology science. As we look to 2022, we will continue to work tirelessly toward our mission and grow our innovative and incisive content. To that end, I look forward to receiving manuscripts relevant to our call for papers on immune therapy, due May 1, 2022. Thank you for your efforts to collaboratively advance cardio-oncology clinical care and science—for our patients.
