Abstract
A review of pituitary imaging is presented based on the history of neuroradiologic definition of the sellar contents as well as modern diagnostic techniques. The importance of normal pituitary and seller anatomy is stressed in an attempt to determine the limitations of defining abnormal sellar contents with the imaging techniques of computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging. The sensitivity and specificity of these techniques are illustrated with histopathologic correlation.Mesh:
